Ramsar Calls for Nominations for Wetland Conservation Awards 2012

The fifth round of the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Awards, which will be presented at the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties in Bucharest, Romania, will be given in three categories: management, wetland science and education.

24 February 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Secretariat) has launched a call for nominations for the fifth round of the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Awards, which will be presented at the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11), scheduled to take place in Bucharest, Romania, in June 2012.

The Ramsar Awards were established in 1996 in order to recognize the contributions of individuals, organizations and governments worldwide to promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands. In 2012, a prize will be given in each of three categories: management, wetland science, and education. The deadline for the receipt of nominations is 31 May 2011. [Ramsar Press Release]
