PROVIA Requests Comments on Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation Guidance

The Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA), a joint UN initiative, is inviting comments on its publication titled “PROVIA Guidance on Assessing Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation,” which aims to serve as an update of earlier Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines (1994) and the UN Environment Progamme (UNEP) Handbook (1996).

PROVIA7 May 2012: The Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA), a joint UN initiative, is inviting comments on its publication titled “PROVIA Guidance on Assessing Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation,” developed in cooperation with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). PROVIA is specifically requesting suggestions for case studies and examples from developing countries.

The revised guidance on assessing vulnerability, impacts and adaptation (VIA) will serve as an update of earlier Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines (1994) and the UN Environment Progamme (UNEP) Handbook (1996). The review period will close on 30 June 2012.

PROVIA was launched in September 2011 by UNEP, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). [PROVIA Website] [PROVIA Guidance]
