RIO+2019 December 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) has opened the pre-registration and accreditation process for relevant NGOs and other Major Groups, for both the Conference and the Third Session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom III). Pre-registration will close on 20 May 2012. Pre-registration is the only process by which NGOs may secure participation in the Conference; no on-site registration will be available.

New groups interested to participate in the Conference – those not already in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), including through the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), nor accredited to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD, or Rio+10) in 2002 – must request accreditation (through an online questionnaire) by 20 February 2011, before pre-registering.

The visa application process for Brazil will require a copy of the confirmation letter to Rio+20, to be provided electronically upon approved pre-registration. [Pre-registration Webpage]
