Partnership for Procurement and Green Growth Launches Guidebook

The Guidebook draws on case studies and builds on the existing body of work supporting the case for green public procurement, to further identify linkages between procurement and green growth, and discuss an enabling environment for public procurement to serve as a trigger for green industrial innovation, expansion and growth.
The Partnership for Procurement and Green Growth is coordinated by IISD with support from the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF).
30 October 2012: The Partnership for Procurement and Green Growth has published a guidebook, titled “Procurement and Green Growth: The Story Continues…,” on ways for governments to use their purchasing power to encourage industry to develop and market green growth products and services. In a foreword to the guidebook, Denmark’s Minister for the Environment Ida Auken writes that green public procurement possesses great and largely unharnessed potential for catalyzing green growth.
The Partnership for Procurement and Green Growth was launched at the second meeting of Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) in Copenhagen, Denmark, in October 2012. The public-private partnership (PPP) is coordinated by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and supported by the 3GF, with partners including: the Danish Ministry of Environment; State Government of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Confederation of Indian Industry Centre for Excellence on Sustainable Development; Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group; and Danfoss. Its goal is to stimulate global demand for green products and services by leveraging governments’ purchasing power.
