17 November 2014: The 6th Pan-American Meeting of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands provided input to the 12th Conference of the Parties (COP 12) of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay, in June 2015.
The meeting, which took place from 27-31 October 2014, in Bogota, Colombia, addressed: the strategic planning process; draft resolutions; wetlands in the Americas in the context of the sustainable development goals (SDGs); and regional wetlands initiatives, including on mangroves and coral reefs.
The Coordination Committees of the Regional Initiatives for the Caribbean, Mangroves and Coral Reefs, held meetings on 26-26 October 2014, to address sustainability of the programmes. [Ramsar Secretariat Press Release]
