SPREP has released a video that features water conservation and integrated water resource management (IWRM) activities, funded under the PACC project.
According to SPREP, climate change will exacerbate water scarcity in Tuvalu due to increased dry periods without rain.
13 June 2012: As part of the Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) Project, the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has released a video on water conservation activities in Tuvalu.
The video features water conservation and integrated water resource management (IWRM) activities, funded under the PACC project, including: self-composting toilets; rain water collection; and activities to promote a culture of water hygiene. According to SPREP, climate change will exacerbate water scarcity in Tuvalu due to increased dry periods without rain.
PACC consists of 14 member countries and is implemented by SPREP in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP). It is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Australian Government (AusAID). PACC promotes climate change adaptation as a key prerequisite to sustainable development in Pacific Island Countries (PICs), and aims to enhance PICs’ adaptation capacity. [SPREP Press Release]
