The Oceania Regional Meeting discussed regional priorities, wetlands management case studies and challenges in preparation for the 12th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP 12).

Ramsar24 September 2014: The Oceania Regional Meeting discussed regional priorities, wetlands management case studies and challenges in preparation for the 12th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP 12).

The meeting was held in Nadi, Fiji, from 18-20 August 2014, and was organized by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP).

During the meeting, participants: highlighted the need for increasing cooperation among biodiversity-related multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs); provided input on the draft Ramsar Strategic Plan for 2016-2021 and on the Regional Wetlands Action Plan for the Pacific Islands; and agreed on the “Pacific voyage” campaign to increase awareness of Oceania at COP 12.
