7 April 2014: Developing countries and emerging economies have been invited to submit Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) Support Project Outlines to the NAMA Facility, which will provide financial support to projects judged to “have the potential to catalyse transformational change towards a low-carbon development.”

The call for Outlines is the second announced by the Facility, which is a joint effort of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) of the UK. The most ambitious and feasible projects will be selected based eligibility, feasibility and ambition. The funding available is €50 million, and the window for submissions is 7 April – 15 July 2014.

The NAMA Facility aims to support to developing country governments in the concrete implementation of their NAMAs, with a focus on mobilizing capital investments that will shift whole sectors or technologies in a country onto a low-carbon development trajectory. The Facility issued its first call for project proposals in July 2013. In December 2013, it announced that four projects in Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Indonesia had been selected.
