MDBS2 July 2015: Various multilateral development banks (MDBs) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have created a blog, ‘Fin4Dev,’ as a platform for debate and enhanced understanding of sustainable development. The blog aims to share information on both successes and failures in financing for development for a variety of stakeholders, including project managers, policy makers, private sector investors and activists.

According to Fin4Dev Editor and World Bank Senior Communications Officer Merrell Tuck-Primdahl, the blog aims to explain how the banks can take their role further, through partnerships and innovation, and spur people and organizations to join them.

Noting the important processes happening in 2015, namely financing for development (FfD), the post-2015 development agenda and climate change, the blog’s inaugural post notes that future content will examine: the proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the transition from “‘billions’ in official development assistance (ODA) to ‘trillions’ in investments of all kinds: public and private, national and global, in capital and capacity”; and problems ranging from poverty and health, to better cities and infrastructure.

The banks partnering on the project and contributing content are the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the IMF, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank Group.
