18 June 2009: A press conference was held on 18 June 2009, at UN Headquarters in New York, US, to launch the €10,000 joint Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation/UN Correspondents Association (UNCA) Global Prize for the best coverage of climate change issues.

Gilles Noghès, Permanent Representative of Monaco to the UN, explained that the Prize would be awarded by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon next 30 October, during the UNCA’s annual gala dinner in cooperation with the UN Foundation. He added that the new Prize would reward the best coverage in electronic and print media. Media worldwide are invited to submit entries for the new award by 31 August 2009. [UN Press Release]
