© UNFCCC10 September 2009: The 17th meeting of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) concluded with agreement on the importance of JI to the successful outcome at the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, to convene in Copenhagen in December.

JISC 17 met from 10-11 September 2009, in Kiev, Ukraine, and considered issues relating to the operation of JI, including ways to improve and speed up the scheme and to ensure that lessons learned are carried to COP 15.
Speaking at the close of the meeting, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer underlined that JI is one of the few tools that can help deliver the resources required to address climate change. Participants at the meeting highlighted that JI, together with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and emissions trading, should continue in the post-2012 climate change era.
