28 October 2013: Japan has acceded to the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR), bringing the total number of Parties to 130.
Japan is currently funding a project on enhancing understanding and implementation of the ITPGR in Asia, aiming to provide information to countries that have not yet ratified, and support regional coordination and implementation of the main provisions of the Treaty to those that have ratified.
