IUCN, IWA Launch Water-Food-Energy Nexus Dialogue on Water Infrastructure
story highlights

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Water Association (IWA) have initiated a Nexus Dialogue on Water Infrastructure Solutions.

The dialogue aims to build innovative partnerships related to water, food and energy security, recognizing that these all rely on water infrastructure, particularly: wetlands; watersheds; rivers; and flood plains.

31 January 2013: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Water Association (IWA) have initiated a Nexus Dialogue on Water Infrastructure Solutions. The dialogue aims to build innovative partnerships related to water, food and energy security, recognizing that these all rely on water infrastructure, particularly: wetlands; watersheds; rivers; and flood plains.

The dialogue aims to engage those participating in infrastructure planning, financing and operation in a space were information and lessons learned can be shared, while encouraging those in the water, food and energy sectors to engage in cross-sectoral dialogue. The Nexus Dialogue website encourages participants to share ideas, tools and case studies by email, upload information through the Nexus Dialogue Toolkit and take part in discussions on the IWA Waterwiki. Participants can also engage through Twitter and Facebook.

Other Nexus Dialogue activities will include three regional workshops in Africa, Asia and Latin America to discuss the nexus and the International Conference on Water, Energy and Food, which will take place in May 2014, in Beijing, China.
