15 March 2013: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Council for Science (ICSU) have set up a survey to inform the development of the first draft of a stakeholder engagement strategy and to collect views on stakeholder engagement in the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

IPBES-1 invited IUCN and ICSU to prepare in consultation with stakeholders, including indigenous peoples and local communities and the private sector, a draft stakeholder engagement strategy that will support the implementation of the IPBES work programme. Following an open government and stakeholder review of this draft, the strategy will be updated and presented to the next session of the IPBES Plenary (IPBES-2) for consideration.

The deadline for completing the survey is 14 April 2013. [IPBES News] [IPBES Stakeholder engagement survey] [IISD RS Coverage IPBES-1]
