ITU Symposia on ICTs and Climate Change July 2008: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
has released the outcome documents from its second symposium on Information and
Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Climate Change, held in London, UK, from 17-18 June 2008.

The symposium was organized under a new initiative to
investigate the role of ICTs in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Discussions at the symposium addressed the contribution of ICTs to global
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; the potential of ICTs to reduce GHG emissions
and mitigate climate change, including through the measurement and management
of activities that contribute to GHG emissions, through the process of
dematerialization and by developing energy efficiency standards; and the ways
ICTs can be applied to support climate change adaptation and disaster
preparedness. Copies of presentations are available on the event website. [The Symposium
