The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) funded a project titled "Industrial utilization and marketing of ten potential timber species from secondary and residual primary forests in Peru," that studied the characteristics and commercial potential of ten timber species from the Peruvian Amazon.

22 March 2012: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) has funded a study of the anatomical structure and natural durability of ten timber species from secondary and residual forest of the Peruvian Amazon.

Under the project titled “Industrial utilization and marketing of ten potential timber species from secondary and residual primary forests in Peru,” the study looked at structural, anatomical, microscopic, natural durability and other characteristics of the timbers. It also discussed the practical consequences of the timbers’ characteristics in terms of their marketing and potential use. The project reports are only available in Spanish.
