ITTO Approves $2.4 Million for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, Trade and Transparency

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) has announced its project portfolio under the thematic programmes on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (TFLET); and Trade and Market Transparency (TMT).

ITTO logo6 March 2014: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) has announced its project portfolio under its Thematic Programmes on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (TFLET) and Trade and Market Transparency (TMT).

Overall, the portfolio amounts to almost US$2.4 million and includes projects in Guatemala, Guyana, Indonesia, Mali, Panama and Papua New Guinea. The projects under the TFLET programme include institutional strengthening, enhanced monitoring and control, DNA timber tracking, improved community forest governance and local capacity building, chain of custody verification, and support for timber processing industries.

The one project approved under the TMT will support the sustainable management of red cedar in Guyana. [ITTO Press Release]
