ITTO Annual Report Highlights Adoption of the Strategic Plan

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) released its 2012 annual report highlighting the 48th Session of the International Tropical Timber Council and Associated Committees.

The report notes the adoption of the strategic action plan 2013-2018 as well as the new structure of the ITTO Secretariat.

The report notes the adoption of the strategic action plan 2013-2018 as well as the new structure of the ITTO Secretariat.

The report also provides an overview of markets, trade and industry, including the publication of the annual review of the world timber situation. The report presents an update on revised principles and guidelines for sustainable forest management (SFM), collaboration with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), REDD+, and community forest management through public-private partnerships.

Progress is also reported on the thematic programmes on: Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (TFLET), Reducing Deforestation and Forest Degradation and Enhancing Environmental Services in Tropical Forests (REDDES), Community Forest Management and Enterprises (CFME), Trade and Market Transparency (TMT), and Industry Development and Efficiency (IDE).
