18 January 2012: The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has launched a new website that offers a single, one-stop access point to information on plant genetic resources. The website’s virtual library allows easy access to meeting documents, training and communication materials in six languages, as well as a large amount of publications on the Treaty, on topics including access and benefit-sharing (ABS), conservation and sustainable use, and farmers’ rights.

The site also includes notifications to parties, as well as news, videos, funding information, and information on the projects being implemented under the Treaty’s Benefit-sharing Fund.

The new portal was presented by ITPGR Secretary Shakeel Bhatti during a briefing session to the parties’ permanent representatives to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). [ITPGR News Release]
