The Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has circulated the report of the first meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Committee on Sustainable Use of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA), held from 8-9 November 2012, in Rome, Italy.
March 2013: The Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) has circulated the report of the first meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Committee on Sustainable Use of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA), held from 8-9 November 2012, in Rome, Italy.
At the meeting, the Committee agreed on a provisional draft of the vision, mission and goals of a programme of work on sustainable use of PGRFA, and supported the development of a toolbox from which institutions and individuals can draw from a list of instruments to tailor solutions to specific needs. It also reviewed the submissions on farmers’ rights received by the Secretariat.
