16 September 2010: The Secretariat of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) convened a joint workshop from 17-20 August 2010, in Dakar, Senegal, to discuss the integration of disaster risk reduction (DRR) into the joint UN development programming framework.

Participants included representatives from 16 North and West African countries. They examined issues related to climate change, and are expected to brief their respective country teams on how disasters, climate change and additional cross-cutting themes interact and affect development.
