IRC Symposium 2013 Focuses on Sustainable WASH Service Delivery

The IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre hosted the IRC Symposium 2013 - Monitoring Sustainable Water Supply and Hygiene (WASH) Service Delivery, which aimed to address means of monitoring newly-constructed WASH facilities to provide the information necessary to correct, adapt and plan for sustainable WASH services.

irc11 April 2013: The IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre hosted the IRC Symposium 2013 – Monitoring Sustainable Water Supply and Hygiene (WASH) Service Delivery, which aimed to address means of monitoring newly-constructed WASH facilities to provide the information necessary to correct, adapt and plan for sustainable WASH services.

The meeting took place from 9-11 April 2013, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was attended by 380 WASH sector experts. The meeting focused on, inter alia: monitoring the finance needed for service delivery; government-led and country-wide monitoring; project monitoring; information and communications technology (ICT) for monitoring sustainable service delivery; monitoring sanitation and hygiene services; global-regional-national WASH monitoring; and monitoring the enabling environment.

The meeting was organized in cooperation with the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), WaterAid, Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA), Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN), Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and Water for People.
