IPCC to Implement IAC Recommendations

During its 32nd session, the IPCC discussed the InterAcademy Council (IAC) Review and the scope of the Synthesis Report of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5).

14 October 2010: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) held its 32nd session from 11-14 October 2010, in Busan, Republic of Korea. Over the course of the meeting, contact groups met on issues including: IPCC processes and procedures; IPCC governance and management; and the scope of the Synthesis Report of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5).

The Panel agreed to implement immediately some recommendations on processes and procedures from the InterAcademy Council (IAC) Review, including guidance on uncertainty, non-peer-reviewed literature and how to address potential errors. The IPCC also agreed to form intersessional task groups to consider other IAC recommendations on governance and management issues, such as the formation of an executive committee and the redefinition of the roles and responsibilities of the Secretariat.
