story highlights

Geneva, Switzerland 19 November 2008: The 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Task Group on Data and Scenario Support for
Impact and Climate Analysis (TGICA) opened on 19 November 2008, at the World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and will
conclude on 21 November.

The TGICA facilitates wide availability of climate
change-related data and scenarios to enable research and sharing of information
across the three IPCC working groups. At the meeting, TGICA members will
address the process of refreshing TGICA membership as the IPCC Fifth Assessment
cycle commences. The meeting is also expected to finalize technical guidelines
on socioeconomic scenarios, sea-level rise and observed impacts, and discuss
management and improvements to the Data Distribution Centre. Members of the
TGICA will also be briefed regarding ongoing work on scenario development. [TGICA Website]
