ipcc1025 March 2014: The 10th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II (WGII-10) and 38th session of the IPCC (IPCC-38) are expected to endorse the findings of the second part of the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) addressing climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability.

IPCC WG II opened on 25 March 2014, in Yokohama, Japan, and will be followed by a session of the entire Panel. IPCC WG II will have to approve line-by-line the Summary for Policy-Makers and accept the underlying assessment of scientific literature. Subsequently, the Panel will convene in full to formally give the effect to the endorsement of the WG II report.

The AR5 has been under preparation for six years and consists of the contributions by the three WGs of the IPCC and a Synthesis Report. The Panel adopted its WG I contribution on the physical science basis of climate change in Stockholm, Sweden, in September 2013. It will consider the WG III contribution on mitigation of climate change in Berlin, Germany, from 7-12 April 2014. A Synthesis Report of all three WG volumes is expected to be finalized in October 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. [IISD RS Coverage] [IPCC Press Release]
