29 January 2009: The Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has prepared a draft report of the Panel’s 29th session, which took place from 31 August to 4 September 2008, in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting, which commemorated the IPCC’s 20th anniversary, the Panel elected the new IPCC Bureau and the Bureau of the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and reelected Rajendra Pachauri as IPCC Chair. The Panel also continued its discussions on the future of the IPCC and agreed to create a scholarship for young climate change scientists from developing countries with the funds from the Nobel Prize.
Governments are invited to send their comments on the draft report by 28 February 2009. The 30th session of the IPCC will take place on 21-23 April in Antalya, Turkey. [Draft Report]
