Ipcc Logo16 December 2009: At a side event held during the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) launched its Climate Education Programme, which draws on the money received for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Programme aims to strengthen the ability of developing and Least Developed Countries to contribute to climate science and research. Scholarships will be awarded to young scholars from developing and Least Developed Countries, small island States and those regions worst hit by droughts, floods, famine and changed patterns of precipitation. The first round of scholarships will be awarded for the second term of theacademic year 2010-2011 and the call for proposals willbe posted on the IPCC website.[ProgrammeLeaflet]
