IPCC Invites Governments and Organizations to Nominate Representatives for 30th Session

27 January 2009: The 30th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will take place on 21-23 April 2009, in Antalya, Turkey. The meeting will focus on the future of the IPCC, in particular the scoping of the Fifth Assessment Report. The Panel will also consider the outcome of the Scoping Meeting for a possible Special Report on “Extreme events and disasters: managing the risks,” which is to be held on 23-26 March 2009, in Oslo, Norway.

In addition, the IPCC will discuss the outcome of the Expert Meeting on “Alternative common metrics to calculate the carbon dioxide equivalence of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases,” which is scheduled to take place at the same venue from 18-20 March 2009. Governments and international and other organizations are invited to nominate their representatives by 6 March 2009. [Meeting Website]
