IPBES Issues Second Call for Nominations of Experts

In a letter dated 2 April 2013, the Chair of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) issued an invitation to governments and stakeholders to nominate experts to explore a set of regional and sub-regional assessments, and a thematic assessment of land degradation and restoration.

ipbes3 April 2014: In a letter dated 2 April 2013, the Chair of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) issued an invitation to governments and stakeholders to nominate experts to explore a set of regional and sub-regional assessments, and a thematic assessment of land degradation and restoration. Applications can be filled in through a dedicated portal and should be made by 8 June 2014.

For the regional and sub-regional assessments, expert groups are sought for the following regions: Africa, Asia and Pacific, Americas and the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia, and Antarctica. A joint meeting of all these regional experts will take place at a single location (tentatively set in Nairobi, Kenya) on 17-23 August 2014, and include two days dedicated to capacity building. Experts chosen for the latter assessment on land degradation and restoration will convene for a scoping meeting the week of 8 September 2014. [IPBES News] [IPBES Web Portal]
