20 November 2009: The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), has published a research brief based on research in Ethiopia on the implications of soil and water conservation on agricultural production risk.
The brief outlines technologies for soil and water conservation that increase and decrease agricultural yield variability and identifies areas of Ethiopia that are best suited for each technology. It suggests that water and soil conservation technologies can significantly reduce agricultural risk in Ethiopia, but that one-size-fits-all recommendations are inappropriate.
