International Firms Sign ILO Charter on Disabilities

Eleven major international companies have signed a charter created by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on promoting and including persons with disabilities in operations worldwide.

According to ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, the charter can make a “substantial contribution to realizing many goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

Ilo28 October 2015: Eleven major international companies have signed a charter created by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on promoting and including persons with disabilities in operations worldwide. According to ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, the charter can make a “substantial contribution to realizing many goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

The Global Business and Disability Network Charter was signed in Geneva, Switzerland, on 28 October 2015.

The signatory companies – Accenture, Accor Hotels, Adecco Group, AXA Group, Carrefour Group, Dow Chemical, Groupe Casino, L’Oréal, Orange, the Standard Bank Group and Michelin – commit to protecting staff with disabilities from any kind of discrimination, as well as progressively improving company accessibility and communication.

All signatories are members of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, which promotes disability inclusion in the workplace. The Network is now encouraging other major companies around the world to sign the Charter. [ILO Press Release] [Global Business and Disability Network Charter]
