20 April 2009: The International Training Centre (ITC) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a six week open course on Green Jobs, focusing on the socioeconomic impacts of climate change with particular attention to the world of work, in terms adaptation and mitigation, and on how to manage the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The course will cost about EUR 2,500 per participant and targets primary stakeholders such as trade unions, employer representatives, and government agencies including ministries of labor, environment and planning. The course combines distance learning, preparatory work and a face to face slot in Turin, Italy, from 22-26 June 2009. It responds to the growing interest from ILO constituents and donors for the topic, following a successful pilot training that took place in February 2009, to which the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Climate Change Programme was invited to conduct a training session on climate change adaptation in practice.
