IEA Technology Bulletin Considers Reports on Modernizing Fuels for Buses, Technology-Forcing Standards

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published the Open Energy Technology Bulletin which presents the latest findings and activities from the Implementing Agencies of the IEA Energy Technology Network.

IEA5 October 2012: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published the newest edition of its Open Energy Technology Bulletin, which highlights, among other issues, workshops to be run by the Chinese Government focusing on energy technology research and development in emerging economies, and a Bioenergy Implementing Agency (IA) summary report on future biomass-based transport fuels.

The Bulletin, which presents the latest findings and activities from the IAs of the IEA Energy Technology Network, contains sections on main highlights, new participants in IEA research and development projects, news, annual reports and upcoming meetings among others.

Specifically, it highlights Energy Technology Data Source (E-TechDS), a series of technology briefs on supply and demand that are under development through the Energy Technology Systems Analysis Programme (ETSAP IA); the Electric Motor Systems Annex (EMSA) Motor Forum, which encourages the manufacture and use of efficient motor systems; a report from the Efficient Electrical End-Use Equipment programme (4E IA) on how governments can employ technology-forcing standards to meet national and international targets; and a report on Iraq’s energy outlook.

In the news section, the Bulletin describes, among others, the results of laboratory comparison tests on LED lights; information on PV capacity, growth and major solar photovoltaic (PV) market movers; and a report on geothermal applications.
