new_logo_idb28 April 2015: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched an open data portal, titled ‘Numbers for Development,’ which allows users to explore, visualize and download data from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

The data come from research analyses and sources used by the IDB to generate knowledge for its development interventions. The portal enables users to explore a range of specialized datasets with indicators and raw data on issues such as education, labor markets, poverty, gender participation, global integration and agriculture policy.

Santiago Levy Algazi, Vice President for Sectors and Knowledge, IDB, said the portal was developed with the aim of sharing data generated during more than 50 years of analyses conducted by the Bank in order to find solutions to the LAC region’s development challenges.

‘Numbers for Development’ is geared toward researchers, students, policymakers, analysts and others working in development and on public policy. The IDB will also be publishing a blog series, titled ‘How to Use Numbers for Development,’ with key information and tips on how best to explore, visualize and download data.
