IDB Launches Carbon Finance Portal for Latin America

"Finanzas Carbono" is a Spanish-language web portal that features updated information on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and voluntary carbon markets, tips for project development, as well as communities of practice for experts to share information.

2 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with support from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank, has launched a web portal called “Finanzas Carbono,” which is designed to provide a platform for dissemination of information on carbon markets to the Spanish-speaking world.

The Finanzas Carbono website features updated information on regulated and voluntary carbon markets, including a detailed description of all the stages of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project development. It will also allow users to connect to experts in the field and communicate through communities of practice. The platform’s main objective is to strengthen knowledge and capacity to participate in carbon markets by the private and public sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean. [Finanzas Carbono Portal]
