IDB and Alberta Undertake Joint Sustainable Energy Initiatives in Latin America

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Alberta, Canada, have launched a joint initiative to support, through capacity building and knowledge sharing, the development and deployment of sustainable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IDB7 March 2012: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Alberta, Canada, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish initiatives and programs supporting sustainable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean in an effort to harness the benefits of international cooperation to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The joint work between the IDB and the Government of Alberta will be comprised of collaboration in the development of technical cooperation, knowledge dissemination, capacity building programs and the organization of events and seminars on issues related to energy efficiency, integrated energy systems, environmental cumulative impacts, resource development, technology development and policy development and sustainability.
