Human Rights Council Adopts Resolution on Climate Change

UnThe United Nations Human Rights Council, 28 March 2008, adopted by consensus a resolution tabled by the Maldives on the subject of human rights and climate change.

The resolution was cosponsored by sixty-nine countries from all regions.
The resolution requests the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to conduct a detailed study of the relationship between climate change and human rights, to be submitted to the Council prior to its tenth session, and thereafter to make the study, together with a summary of the debate at its tenth session, available to the Conference of Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change.
