Green Climate Fund Board Selects Host

During its second meeting, held from 18-20 October 2012, the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) selected Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea, as the host city of the Fund.

The decision will be presented for endorsement to the 18th session of the COP to the UNFCCC, which will take place from 26 November-7 December 2012, in Doha, Qatar.

20 October 2012: During its second meeting, the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) selected Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea, as the host city of the Fund.

Six countries had submitted bids to host the GCF, and were thanked by the Board for submitting their offers. The selection was adopted by consensus following a confidential balloting process during the 18-20 October 2012 Board meeting, which took place in Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea. Additional agenda items included: long-term work plan and priorities of the Board; status of resources and administrative budget of the Interim Secretariat and the Interim Trustee; arrangements for establishing the independent Secretariat, including the selection of the Executive Director; and arrangements between the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Fund.
