26 April 2017: Sustainia, DNV GL and the UN Global Compact have launched an online platform – the Global Opportunity Explorer. The platform includes examples of sustainable solutions and market opportunities that address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Global Opportunity Explorer (#GOexplorer) currently includes over 300 examples of “solutions,” which are organized under ten sector categories: buildings, food, fashion, transportation, IT, education, energy, health, cities, and resources. The solutions included on the platform were assessed by an external advisory board of sector experts according to five criteria: readily available; positive environmental impact; financially viable; improve quality of life; and scalable.

The markets included in the platform were identified following to a three-stage process: identify challenges; co-create market opportunities; and survey market opportunities. Information on market products and services, market size and demand drivers, among other information, is offered for over 40 markets. The market options can be sorted according the specific SDGs.

The collaborators on the Global Opportunity Explorer also have published the ‘Global Opportunity Report’ in 2015-2017. The 2017 edition presents five global risks and 15 sustainable market opportunities that directly address the risks. [Global Opportunity Explorer][Global Opportunity Network]
