CIFOR23 October 2014: Preparations for the Global Landscapes Forum continue with the opening of registration. The event is expected to be the largest held at the margins of the upcoming 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC, in Lima, Peru.

The forum will include more than 40 sessions, including civil society and youth sessions, and feature discourse on issues ranging from gender to sustainable commodities. High-level dialogues will touch on climate smart agriculture, the landscape approach, financial forests, and adaptation-based mitigation. The forum aims to build capacity for integrating environmental, social, political and economic issues in the implementation of landscape approaches.

The forum will also host a photo competition, a competition on the development of info-graphics and data visualization, and a kickoff event featuring 12 young entrepreneurs discussing climate change, sustainable development and land use.

The Global Landscapes Forum is co-hosted by Peru’s Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Agriculture, the Center for International Forest Research (CIFOR), the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). CIFOR is part of the CGIAR consortium. [Global Landscape Forum Website] [CIFOR Blog Post]
