Global Joint REDD+ Knowledge Exchange Day Shares Lessons and Challenges

The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) and the UN Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD) hosted the 2015 Global Joint (REDD+) Exchange Day on 8 November 2015, in San José, Costa Rica.

The event was designed as a country-led South-South knowledge exchange opportunity, and was webcasted live.

unredd-fcpf8 November 2015: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) and the UN Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD) hosted the 2015 Global Joint (REDD+) Exchange Day on 8 November 2015, in San José, Costa Rica. The event was designed as a country-led South-South knowledge exchange opportunity, and was webcasted live.

Eight sessions were hosted, with two sessions running in parallel throughout the day. Sessions addressed: early lessons learned from engaging the private sector in REDD+; progress and challenges on forest reference levels for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); carbon stock assessments and monitoring in indigenous territories in Latin America; country experiences in the development and prioritization of REDD+ policies and measures; synergies on land use/REDD+ in countries’ Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and national strategy documents and REDD+ programmes; country approaches to REDD+ safeguards, including REDD+ safeguard information systems; social inclusion and REDD+; and experiences on monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) and South-South cooperation in Mesoamerica.
