10 October 2013: The fourth newsletter of the Frankfurt School-United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance highlights activities related to a new E-Learning Programme in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance, a microfinance institution project in Nepal and Ethiopia, and the UN CC:Learn pilot project in the Dominican Republic, among other items.

The newsletter introduces the Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) that is in development for 2014 in sub-Sahara Africa. The platform, which is being developed in cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB), KfW Development Bank and UNEP, will assist governments and the private sector in dealing with investment hurdles for small to medium sized enterprises by improving access to risk mitigation and financial instruments. It is to be a part of the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative.

The Newsletter also summarizes a policy brief on ‘Enhancing Direct Access to the Green Climate Fund’ and the launch of the End-user Finance for Access to Clean Energy Technologies (FACET) project in South- and Southeast Asia, among other activities.
