7 October 2011: The Fifth EU-Chile Association Council meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium, on 7 October 2011. The resulting Joint Communiqué addresses the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), climate change and biodiversity, among other issues.

Ministers agreed on the importance of maintaining an active dialogue and cooperation in multilateral fora such as at Rio+20 in June 2012, on global agenda items requiring concerted action such as biodiversity, sustainable energy and climate change.
