19 August 2011: The Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD) has published a guide to assist multilateral environmental agreement (MEA) negotiators with complex situations.

It highlights that many MEA negotiations create unprecedented circumstances, and rules in those processes tend to change. This combination creates a particular challenge for negotiators.

The guide offers practical approaches to resolving difficulties and addresses several legal questions. The guide provides some basic information about international negotiations, the rules of procedure of different MEAs, and possible approaches to negotiation.
