November 2011: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), hosted at the World Bank, has released its annual report for the fiscal year 2011. The report highlights strengths and weaknesses of the Facility to date.

The report includes sections on, inter alia: capacity building for REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks); strengths, such as the establishment of a common readiness framework, and the creation of a space for community and indigenous stakeholders to engage in forest sector reforms; and weaknesses, such as the slow pace of financial commitments and disbursements, the lack of in-country procurement capacity, and the creation of unrealistic expectations as to the scale and timing of REDD+ benefits.

Other publications available on FCPF’s website include: the report of a workshop held from 12-14 September 2011, in Mexico City, Mexico, organized by the FCPF and the World Bank to explore how community monitoring can link with and contribute to national systems of measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) under national programmes for REDD+; frequently asked questions (FAQ) on the Common Approach to Environmental and Social Safeguards for Multiple Delivery Partners; and a blog on the FCPF Dialogue with Indigenous Peoples in Kuna Yala, Panama.
