FAO Updates on Implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines

The latest edition of the Governance of Tenure newsletter, produced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), provides a roundup of trainings and consultative activities aimed at enhancing the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (Voluntary Guidelines).

governance_tenure_feb2016February 2016: The latest edition of the Governance of Tenure newsletter, produced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), provides a roundup of trainings and consultative activities aimed at enhancing the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (Voluntary Guidelines).

Among other activities, the newsletter reports on: a training module on participatory approaches to REDD+ and forest tenure reform in six East and West African countries; a regional multi-stakeholder consultation on land governance in the Asia-Pacific Region; and national Voluntary Guidelines workshops in Albania, Armenia, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan, Sierra Leone and Tajikistan.

The newsletter also features publications and resources for practitioners, including four reports in the FAO legal paper series containing assessments of Sierra Leone’s implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines across various sectors.

Finally, the newsletter reports on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Union of Notaries (UINL) and FAO to support the dissemination and implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines by UINL members in 86 countries.
