ITTO FAO9 May 2014: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) released the Yearbook of Forest Products, which provides annual data on the production, consumption and trade of forest products in 2012. The Yearbook also contains a compilation of information for the years 2008-2012.

Forest products included in the Yearbook include roundwood, sawnwood, wood-based panels, pulp and recovered paper, paper and paperboard, and wood charcoal, chips particles and residues. The book also presents trade statistics for major timber products including rough roundwood, of which China was the largest exporter (2012), and sawnwood, of which China was the largest exporter in 2011 and the US was the largest exporter in 2012.

A majority of the data were gathered through questionnaires completed by countries with additional estimates by FAO and partners, including the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).
