FAO Leads Project on Reviving Agricultural Research in DRC

14 February 2011: The Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO) is leading a project to help build capacity of agricultural scientists in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The project, REAFOR, works with students and researchers from DRC universities in the agriculture and forestry sectors. Research projects focus on staple food crops in DRC. The project seeks to rehabilitate and equip research stations across the country.

The project is funded by the EU and assisted by additional partners from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), including the Center for International Forestry Research and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). [FAO Press Release]
