fao_cirad19 November 2015: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), and Tuscia University have launched an upgraded version of GlobAllomeTree, a web-based toolbox and data repository to assess carbon stocks in forests.
Initially released in 2013, GlobAllomeTree supports forest stakeholders and decision makers in assessing forest carbon stocks and preparing greenhouse gas inventories necessary to monitor the reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation under programmes such as REDD+.

The upgrade includes new databases of biomass expansion factors, raw data on trees, species lists and wood density, as well as a large number of statistical models to assess tree resources and carbon stocks and data on almost 2,000 tree species. The new platform also includes a manual, tutorials and a user forum to facilitate collaboration and data sharing. [FAO Press Release] [GlobAllomeTree Website]
