EUWI Africa Newsletter Discusses Joint Africa-EU Strategy Review

The December 2012 Newsletter released by the EU Water Initiative (EUWI) Africa Working Group (AWG) discusses EUWI AWG activities carried out since August 2012, including events held in parallel with World Water Week and World Toilet Day.

The newsletter also highlights progress on a study on financing transboundary water management in Africa and celebration of EUWI's tenth anniversary.

December 2012: The EU Water Initiative (EUWI) Africa December 2012 Newsletter discusses progress on the review of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy, a study on financing transboundary water management in Africa, and the EUWI activities held in parallel with World Water Week, held in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2012.

The newsletter features stories on: using the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) model for the Caribbean region; signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AMCOW and France pledging French support for improving access to water and sanitation in Africa; presenting an EUWI study during World Toilet Day celebrations; holding the World Water Week seminar on “Focus Africa – Water Security – Opportunities for the 21st Century;” and celebrating the 10th anniversary of the EUWI at World Water Week.

The EU Water Initiative has worked since 2002 to facilitate progress on water-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in developing countries, including through the Africa Working Group (AWG). [Publication: EUWI AWG Newsletter December 2012]
